Eye and Vision Exams

Eye And Vision Exams Are Vital To Your Health

Your eye health is essential to your overall health and well-being. By taking good care of your eyes, you increase your chances of enjoying good eyesight throughout your life. At Fillmore Eye Clinic, Inc. in Southern New Mexico, we offer comprehensive eye exams for the whole family, including pediatric, senior, and diabetic exams, to help patients maintain optimal eye health and vision from childhood through the senior years. Here’s what you can expect from our skilled optometrists and ophthalmologists.

.

Initial Consultation

During your consultation with your eye doctor, we’ll review your health history to get a better idea of your previous problems and treatments. We’ll also discuss any issues you may be experiencing with your vision and take note of the medications you’re using. The information provided can help our optometrists and ophthalmologists diagnose eye conditions and determine future treatments.

Eye and Vision Exams

We recommend you schedule an eye exam annually or every two years to monitor the state of your vision and eye health. A comprehensive eye exam from your eye doctor in Southern New Mexico will consist of the following:

Vision Tests

During your eye exam, we’ll test your visual acuity. If you are diagnosed with a refractive error, such as myopia, astigmatism, or hyperopia, we will provide you with corrective lenses to help improve your vision. Depending on your situation, we may recommend LASIK surgery to correct your refractive error and enhance your vision without the need for eyewear. For your convenience, we have eye doctors and surgeons in the Alamogordo, Las Cruces, Deming, Ruidoso, Truth or Consequences, and Silver City areas who offer high-quality eye care.

Eye Function Tests

Our eye function tests evaluate your depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision, eye muscle capability, eye teaming, and your eyes’ response to light to determine if your eyes are focusing properly and working well together.

Eye Health Tests

Your comprehensive exam also includes eye health tests to determine if you have conditions or diseases that can damage your sight. Your eye doctor will conduct a visual inspection of your eye for signs of irregularities. If necessary, we’ll dilate your eyes to check the internal structures for signs of abnormalities or disease, and measure your eye pressure for early warning signs of glaucoma.

We also offer pre-op and post-op eye care services to help you understand LASIK and its surgical procedures.
